Secure the Future of Your Smile with Dental Implants

Experiencing tooth loss? You aren’t alone!

69% of adults ages 35-44 have lost at least one permanent tooth due to decay, gum disease, trauma, because of an accident or failed root canal. Tooth loss is common. In fact, the number of dental implants placed each year is on par with hip and knee replacements. Missing teeth may make you feel insecure or embarrassed, but one-third to one-half of adults experience tooth loss — it’s far more common than you may have realized!

I’m missing a tooth, should I get a dental implant?

If you are missing a tooth, you might be a candidate for a dental implant.

Together with Dr. Bana, you will determine if you are a good candidate and if it is the right procedure for you. You want to make sure your mouth is healthy enough to undergo the procedure, and you have enough jawbone to secure the dental implant. If you aren’t healthy enough (yet) or your bone has atrophied, Dr. Bana can typically get you on track to have the procedure done. You may have a period of restorative and hygiene work, and possibly a bone graft before you are ready for an implant but, Dr. Bana will walk you step-by-step through the process to ensure you will have the best results possible. The goal is never a quick fix, but a lasting result you can trust.

Facts about dental implants from the American Academy of Dental Implants

  • About 3 million Americans have dental implants.
  • They have traced the first dental implants to 600, AD. Shells were hammered into the gums of Mayan women to replace missing teeth.
  • In 1952 a Swedish surgeon discovered titanium naturally fuses with bone.
  • Implants are the only restorative procedure that stimulate the growth of new bone.

What’s the Procedure Like?

There are several variations of the procedure, depending on how many teeth you are replacing and what type of implant, partial or denture will be secured. There are also differences in how quickly the tooth/teeth replacement can be fixed to the implant. Sometimes it can happen immediately, sometimes within 24 hours and other times it takes a few months of healing before the crown can be placed.

Placing the implant

The first step is to take a 3D image of your oral cavity and sinuses. Dr. Bana will be able to assess the best place to insert the implant. If he finds you need bone grafting, a sinus lift or a ridge expansion prior to your implant placement he will discuss those options with you. Once he has the 3D view of your jaw, he uses the image to guide precision placement of the implant. The imaging allows for exact placement to reduce recovery time and discomfort while healing.

A dental implant is a small, screw-like piece that Dr. Bana surgically inserts into your jawbone. While sedated, he will open the gums and when enough healthy jawbone is present will place the implant. The implant becomes part of the jawbone over time and regenerates a new tooth root.

Find the right fit for your lifestyle

There are several systems you and Dr. Bana can choose from when it comes to your case.

Traditional dental implants

The traditional dental implant protocol requires a few appointments with healing time between placement of the implant and placement of the crown (tooth). Dr. Bana will determine if your case requires healing time or if you are a candidate for immediate load implants.

Immediate load implants

Immediate load implants are a protocol that allows for immediate placement of the crown, bridge or denture — the same day as the implant procedure, or within 24 hours. This system is perfect for people with good oral health and healthy jawbone. With immediate load implants you leave the office with a brand new smile. This option may require coming back for your final crown placement, but you will leave the office the same day with a smile you can be proud of!

Implant-supported dentures

If you are missing most or all of either (or both) arches, a full arch implant is a life-changing way to restore your full smile. Instead of placing individual implants for each tooth, Dr. Bana can strategically place 4-6 implants in each arch, at which time an artfully crafted denture can be fixed to the implants for a secure smile. Unlike traditional dentures or partials, patients love implant-supported dentures because they don’t slip or gap. They are the most natural-looking and natural-feeling denture option. Some implant-supported dentures can be removed by patients if they prefer, or if they want a more permanently fixed option, Dr. Bana can place a denture that is only removable at his office.

Are you ready?

Live. Love. Smile.

Dental implants can be life-changing. Implant patients are some of our favorite cases because we get to see the transformation in confidence the implants provide. To see a patient come out of their shell and smile with joy for the first time in years is why we do what we do.
