What Is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a permanent replacement for missing teeth. The implant is made up of a post, abutment, and crown. Our surgeon places the post into your jawbone after ensuring it is strong enough to support it. Then, the abutment attaches the crown to the post for a finished look.

Why Do People Get Dental Implants?

People opt for dental implants for a variety of reasons. First of all, dental implants are a permanent and durable option when you take of them properly. Second, they are a natural-looking restoration. This is because your dentist will color-match the crown to your remaining teeth to create a seamless appearance. Lastly, replacing missing teeth helps to maintain the integrity of your jaw and teeth by warding off crowding and unwanted shifting.

Cosmetic Dentist in Miami | What is Cosmetic Dentistry?

Everyone has smile goals. We should feel confident and make a stellar impression the second we open our mouths. Cosmetic dentistry can help people achieve that. If you’re interested in seeing a cosmetic dentist in Miami, here are a few frequently asked questions about what exactly cosmetic dentistry is:

What Is the Goal of Cosmetic Dentistry?

Cosmetic dentistry is meant to help those people achieve their smiles goals. Typically, cosmetic dentistry does not play a role in any health matters. However, some patients do opt for cosmetic procedures that can address health concerns as well.

Why Do People Want Dentistry?

Not everyone is confident with their smiles. They may choose to have cosmetic dentistry procedures done in order to feel better about their look and gain confidence. Cosmetic procedures can be very minor, like teeth whitening, or require a lengthier process, like Invisalign. Either way, people deserve to feel comfortable with their looks, and a smile can transform someone’s appearance.

What Are Common Procedures?

Chances are you know of some very common cosmetic dentistry procedures. For example, teeth whitening is extremely popular among an array of ages with mature teeth. Zoom teeth whitening uses a chairside lamp that accelerates the process for near-instant results. Also, Invisalign is a modern form of braces and can realign teeth for a straighter smile! This process is lengthy and depends on the severity of the changes. However, the results last a lifetime! Lastly, veneers – and even dental implants – can be used for cosmetic purposes. Veneers cover discoloration, while dental implants replace missing teeth with a natural look!

Invisalign in Miami FL | Why Invisalign Should Be Your Smile Solution

The days of clunky braces and uncomfortable rubberbands that make it impossible to smile are gone. Smile correction options have evolved, and Invisalign in Miami FL is a discreet way to get the teeth of your dreams.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a series of clear aligners that are customized for your smile. Over time, your teeth will shift horizontally and vertically. They will also rotate when needed. Your doctor creates a plan of action that contains several liners over a particular amount of time to reset your teeth.

What are the Benefits of Invisalign?

Invisalign is a modern alternative to traditional braces. Traditional braces require brackets cemented on each tooth while Invisalign aligners can be removed throughout the day. This makes it easier to eat and drink. Not to mention, the fact that Invisalign is clear allows wearers to feel more confident. You can wear Invisalign in a picture, during a meeting and more without feeling self-conscious.

What is the Best Option to Replace a Tooth

miami-dental-implantMany patients ask us – What is the best option to replace a tooth? Implants are typically considered the best option for restoring a missing tooth both aesthetically and durability wise. A dental implant fitted with a crown is a long lasting option that can be used for a single tooth, multiple teeth or an entire smile.

At Dr. Ramon Bana’s dental office, we try to make the process as quick as possible. The typical process for completion of a Miami dental implant is usually completed in multiple office visits. Around 3 to 4 visits should suffice and most people can return to work after each visit.

Dental Implant Process

  1. Consultation and initial exam. We will conduct a thorough exam of your situation, answer questions and review your medical history. We will also discuss the best possible treatment options for your situation.
  2. The next visit will consist of a dental implant. The implant is a substitute for the missing natural tooth root. A temporary tooth can be placed while the dental implant integrates with you natural bone to form a strong foundation for your replacement tooth.
  3. On the following visit, we will place the abutment, a connector placed on, or built into the top of the implant that will attach to the replacement tooth. In some situations, we’ll place the abutment on the prior visit.
  4. Finally, we’ll place the custom made crown (replacement tooth).
