Are Dental Implants Painful?

One of the most common questions that is asked about Dental Implants is “are they painful?”.

In this post, Dr. Bana will address this question and hopefully put your mind at ease. He has been doing Dental Implants for over twenty years, and he has been asked about this often. Read on to find out more!

During the Procedure

The procedure itself will not be painful and discomfort is minimal, and the patient may feel some pressure during the surgery but no pain thanks to anesthesia. Holes are drilled into the jawbone to place the implants. While this may sound painful, the jawbone itself has no nerves and does not feel any pain. In fact, this procedure is no more complicated than extracting a tooth!

After the Implants

It will be normal to feel some discomfort for a few days afterward, and the good news is that this may be alleviated by taking over the counter medications such as Tylenol or Motrin. The pain should be manageable, only around a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10. If it is more than that, please give us a call to arrange a time to have Dr. Bana see you. Some bruising and swelling are normal and should dissipate in 3 to 5 days. Dr. Bana and the team will see you through your recovery process and are happy to address any concerns or issues you may have.

Once your procedure is over, you will have a beautiful smile to enjoy for years to come. Dr. Bana and his staff are passionate about improving the lives of each patient they see. If there are any additional questions you may have, please take a look around our website, or give us a call. We are here to help, and look forward to giving you the smile you have always wanted!

“Hi friends, this is Dr. Ramon Bana from Miami Cosmetic and Sedation Dentistry.

I’ve been asked the question as far as are dental implants painful, and I would have to say after almost twenty some odd years of placing implants, the procedure is relatively comfortable and there’s really not a lot of post-operative complications.

But if you have any other questions, please refer to our website where you will get a complete list of information”
